A Kinfolk Gathering

What London can sometimes hide more often than not (sun, light, heat) it made up in treasure troves last Saturday with community, friendship and spirit.  There is something infectious about a meaningful intentioned gathering and Kinfolk truly is a guiding light towards that fact.

I adore that each dinner hosted around the world is a little peek into the enthusiasm of that particular place and persons for a shared meal. In London, our table gathering sat a financial analyst, architects, doctors, journalist, fashion designer, illustrator, photographers, coffee roaster, business owners amongst many lovely others.

It was constant chatter, laughter and the sheer enthusiasm amongst contributors to turn out a beautiful event for L'esprit de la Mer (the spirit of the sea) was a blessing to be a part of; I can tell you it was truly a labour of love that did not disappoint.

Once welcomed, each guest was invited to a choice of a peach & thyme spritzer, mojito (so good) or white wine glass. Prior to the afternoon, everyone had been encouraged to share an image of the sea that held special memories for them and it was stuck on a little viewing wall before the meal began.

What followed thereafter was a feast of food including salt baked white fish, sticky salmon with lime,  summer watercress and quinoa salad, new potatoes with minted yoghurt and a salted caramel tart to mention a very small portion of the afternoon's menu. It was nothing short of delightful.DSC_0286 (1) DSC_0360 DSC_0298 DSC_0350 DSC_0302 DSC_0306 DSC_0338 DSC_0356 DSC_0354 DSC_0377 DSC_0384 (1) DSC_0396 DSC_0405 DSC_0414 DSC_0430 DSC_0445 picisto-20140523084048-752025

With grey skies always at the ready in London, even if it was a bit away from the sea, the room was full of light that day. Thank you a hundred times over to gracious hosts Juniper & Lily (sweet Ana and Tassja), talented contributors and sweet guests- it was an incredible joy to share a table with you.
